Students take part in mock accident

KSNT - April 29, 2010

It was a mock crash with a twist Wednesday morning at Shawnee Heights High School.

The high school's Students Against Destructive Decision Chapter put on a mock accident in the parking lot Wednesday morning, but the cause of the accident was not about drinking and driving. Instead, the mock crash was intended to show the consequences of texting and driving.

The school's resource officer and the SADD chapter felt that more accidents were caused by texting and driving rather than driving under the influence of alcohol.

Taking part in the exercise were the Shawnee County Sheriffs Office, the Topeka-Tecumseh Fire Department, American Medical Response and the Shawnee County Coroner's Office
