Leavenworth, Kan. -
The burning of insulation around wiring is believed to have led
to an early Thursday morning house fire in north Leavenworth, a
Fire Department spokesman said.
No injuries were reported. Leavenworth Assistant Fire Chief Mike
Lingenfelser said a dollar loss had not yet been determined.
The fire was reported at 2:05 a.m. Thursday at 717 Cheyenne St.
"(The firefighters) had heavy smoke coming from the attic on
their arrival," Lingenfelser said.
Firefighters used a ladder to gain access to the attic. They
used foam to battle the flames.
It was determined the burning of the wiring insulation had
caused the attic's insulation to burn, Lingenfelser said.
The local Red Cross was contacted to arrange temporary lodging
for the displaced occupants of the residence.
