On the night of Friday, May 11th, 2007, Butler County Fire District # 3 responded to a report of a fully involved house fire in the Sienna Ranch housing community in Rose Hill. While responding to the fire, Firefighter Daley lost control of his personal vehicle, causing it to roll several times near the entrance to Sienna Ranch. Firefighter Daley was transported in extremely critical condition to Kansas Medical Center in Andover, KS by Butler County EMS, but sustained injuries that proved to be fatal and passed away shortly after arriving at the hospital.

Brandon joined Butler County Fire District # 3 in December 2006 as a volunteer firefighter and was very excited about becoming a member of the department. He was attending the Firefighter I certification class that was being conducted by the department and also attending Butler County Community College, where he was studying as an EMT student.   He had previously been a member of the EMS Explorer post sponsored by the local volunteer EMS group Medic 50 and was currently a law enforcement cadet with the Rose Hill Police Department.
