3 cities, 2 counties share $1.5M in grants
By The Associated Press - November 16, 2009
TOPEKA - Three Kansas towns and two counties will share $1.5
million in state grants for fire stations and other items.
The state Department of Commerce says the communities will
provide volunteer labor and donate materials and equipment for
their projects.
The largest grant, $331,000, will go to Anthony in south-central
Kansas, for cleaning up from a fire in July that destroyed six
downtown buildings.
The north-central Kansas town of Mankato is receiving $300,000
to expand its fire station.
Pratt and Anderson counties are receiving nearly $300,000 each
so they can build new fire stations.
And the city of Sterling, in central Kansas, is receiving nearly
$300,000 to renovate downtown building for a community center
and art gallery.
