Dedication date nearing for St. Joe fire station
Hutchinson News - November 17, 2009

ST. JOE - A dedication of the new St. Joe fire station will be 12:30 p.m. Dec. 2. The firehouse is at 23917 S. Rayl Road, Mt. Hope, approximately 12 miles south of Haven and three miles northeast of Cheney Reservoir in Reno County.

Conservation district officials, area fire chiefs and county commissioners are extended a special invitation to attend. The building, valued at $460,000, is a project of Sunflower RC&D, and funded in part by KAN-STEP and other grants, assisted by the Reno County Commission. The area previously lacked nearby fire protection. The station was built on donated land.

The building also provides space for a new community center. The station will be assigned as a sub-station to Haven and will be staffed with volunteer firefighters. The first truck to be located at the station is now in Haven.
