SCAFFA SPRING SCHOOL
We're hard at work trying to put together a super school for our 25th Annual Spring
School here in Topeka. I'd like to invite Kansas FF to make
suggestions or recommendations for speakers, classes or programs we might include.
The school will be in March 2008 and we're excited about making this the best one we've done yet.
All ideas and suggestions are welcome...to Bill Ossmann at ossmann@networksplus.net
Thanks.
Kansas State Fallen Firefighters Memorial
Equipment and Tower Access Lease Program
Dear Communications Department,
. Outdated radio system but no funds to purchase new radios?
. Need better radio communications coverage in your area?
As a Public Safety or Public Service Agency, you may not be aware that the Communication System Revolving Fund (CSRF) was authorized by the 2004 Kansas Legislature as a method for the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) to provide radio communication equipment, cost effectively, to local public safety and public service users through our Lease Program.
The need has been identified for separate agencies throughout the state to talk with each other effectively for the safety, health, and welfare of Kansans. This interagency communication requires an inter-operable communication system. Our system is designed with inter-operability channels for better communication and coordination among all users which will improve efficiency, safety and service throughout the state.
The Statewide InterOperable Communication System includes four components:
a.. Provides a means for public agencies to lease radio equipment, spreading cost over
a period of time
b.. Offers public service agencies the opportunity to use radio tower space for non-800
MHz communications at the cost of providing the service
c.. Offers private organizations the opportunity to lease radio tower space
d.. Provides the first step towards an InterOperable communication system, upgrading the
existing statewide communication system
As the Lease Program Coordinator, I am inviting you to visit our website at http://www.ksdot.org/burConsMain/Connections/Radio/default.asp for more information on our Equipment and Tower Access Lease Program. The website will give you an opportunity to familiarize yourself with the features of the Program. You may print the application from the website, or contact me to have it mailed. I welcome any questions you might have regarding the Program.
This Program is fully functional and operational, and is designed to allow KDOT to assist other Public Safety and Public Service Agencies with their communication needs in a cost effective manner. Check out our website today, and discover the possibilities the Lease Program holds for your agency.
Sincerely,
Vicki Shanley
