The Wichita Fire Department is investigating what caused a home to catch fire Saturday night.

Firefighters got the call about the fire just after 8:30 pm in the 2500 block of Minnesota Road. Initial scanner traffic indicated that someone was trapped inside, but on arrival firefighters found neighbors had actually brought out hoses to try and put the fire out until crews could arrive.

Crews extinguished the fire, which started in the center of the home.

The homeowners were out of town and crews are working to notify them.

Investigators say they estimate there was approximately $30,000 in damage due to the fire.
