Durham firefighters use a specialized six-wheeled fire cart to work their way down a burned out ditch on Indigo Rd. north of 260th Rd. on Friday, looking for hot spots left over from a fire in a larger swath of conservation reserve program land. Firefighters around the county have been kept busy with numerous fires, most extinguished quickly before winds gusting up to 50 mph could blow them out of control. Several county firefighters have volunteered with time and equipment to help with raging grass fires in Reno County that as of Tuesday had consumed 30 homes as well.
