The Topeka Fire Department responded Sunday afternoon to a report of a possible fire at 115 N.W. Grant, the location of the March 12 triple homicide.
The incident was reported at 3:52 p.m.
Topeka fire battalion Chief Eric Bauer said no fire was present when crews arrived, but an electrical outlet had shorted out and water was in the basement.
Water and gas were shut off and the property owner contacted.
Bauer said a tenant in the basement unit was allowed to gather belongings to vacate the residence.
“That house has been pretty busy lately,” Bauer said.
Last Sunday two men and one woman were found dead there. Topeka police ruled their deaths homicides Monday. By Thursday, four men had been charged in connection with the three homicides.
