On Friday at around 12:30 p.m., reports came in of a structure fire at 118 W. Maple Street in Bucklin.
The exact cause of the fire is still under investigation.
"We are awaiting some evidence to come back to us to confirm," Ford County Fire Chief Robert Boyd said. "We don't think it is suspicious in nature we just want to be sure."
Boyd added that firefighters took approximately 1-hour to get the flames under control.
"I initially thought it was the air conditioning unit when I arrived," Boyd said, "but once we got things under control that turned out to not be the case.
"There were no human injuries but one pet was lost along with heat and smoke damage to the first floor."
Because of the extent of the damage, Boyd deemed the residence unlivable.
The incident is the first residential house fire to occur in Ford County since wildfires struck the area on March 6 that claimed at least six residences.
