Fire crews spent Thursday evening battling a large grass fire in Seward County. It started at around 5:00 Thursday between Liberal and Kismet in rural Seward County.
Andrew Barkley with Seward County Fire Rescue says the fire burned an area a mile wide and about four miles long.
Local farmers came in to help contain the fire. They also had assistance from several other fire crews. Around 34 trucks and 64 firefighters came in from surrounding counties.
Barkley says they've been dealing with dead brush, which burns quickly.
They were able to contain the fire. This morning, they're monitoring conditions to make sure things don't flare up again.
No injuries were reported.
No word yet on a cause.
