KWCH - March 27, 2017
One person has died and another person suffered minor injuries following an overnight crash on I-235 near Seneca.
The crash happened around 2:30 a.m. The Kansas Highway Patrol said 34-year-old Damien Ware was driving a 2016 Mitsubishi passenger car southbound on I-235 and for an unknown reason, veered to the left of the road and hit a guardrail.
KHP said Ware then crossed over to the right shoulder of the highway and hit another guardrail before coming to rest facing north on I-235 in a curve.
Troopers said a Wichita man driving a semi was heading southbound on I-235 on the curve and didn't have time to stop before hitting Ware's vehicle.
Ware was pronounced dead around 9:45 Saturday morning. He was wearing a seat belt.
Southbound traffic near Seneca was closed for a while as Kansas Highway Patrol troopers were working the scene. It has since been reopened.
