    Firefighters perform duties related to fire prevention, suppression, hazardous material incidents, emergency rescue, basic life support, and first aid under emergency conditions frequently involving considerable danger. Employees in this classification work under the direct supervision of a company officer.

    The Shawnee Heights Fire District is seeking qualified applicants for a full time Assistant Chief position. This position is a 40-hour, exempt position Monday through Friday with flexible scheduling.

    The position of Assistant Chief with the Shawnee Heights Fire District is a professional administrative position responsible for assisting in planning, organizing, and directing various activities of the Fire Department which include fire suppression, emergency medical services, fire prevention, and public education.

    The Fire District #1 County of Leavenworth is currently seeking highly motivated, professional, and service oriented people for the position of Firefighter EMT.  Current Work Schedule: A twenty-four-hour work period is utilized based upon the Berkeley schedule: 24 on 24 off, 24 on 24 off, 24 on 96 off.

    The City of Great Bend is currently accepting applications for a Firefighter/EMT. Primary responsibilities include fire protection and EMS response/transport. Applicants will operate firefighting and ambulance equipment and participate in fire prevention programs, public education and fire inspections. Applicants will also make ambulance and rescue runs and be responsible for station maintenance and training activities. This position requires a thorough knowledge of the operation and maintenance of equipment and principles of fire science, EMS, and department operations. It also requires the ability to follow written and oral instructions, read and understand technical manuals, effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and the general public, and exercise independent judgment. Successful candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and be 18 years of age or older. In addition, applicants must possess a valid Kansas driver’s license and EMT certification prior to hire.
