    The City of Coffeyville, Kansas, is seeking highly professional, experienced candidates interested in serving as Fire Chief.  The Coffeyville Fire Department is authorized to maintain 18 full-time shift personnel working three (3) shifts out of a single fire station on a 24/48 schedule serving approximately 9,000 residents.  The department serves as the regional hazardous material response team and provides specialized response team functions to the City and region.

    Candidate must have knowledge of modern fire department management and administration principles; budget development and implementation; grant writing; working knowledge of labor union relations; certifications specific to role (i.e. Executive Fire Officer, Incident Command, Fire Instructor).

    Preferred requirements include a Bachelor’s Degree with major course work in fire prevention technology, public administration, business administration or a related field; ten years’ experience in fire service with demonstrated rank advancement with at least five years in upper level management capacity. Combination of education, experience and training will be considered.  Candidate should have IFSAC Fire Officer I certification and Hazardous Material Technician certification.  

    Salary dependent upon qualifications. The City of Coffeyville also offers an excellent benefit package including: health insurance, retirement plan, vacation, holidays, sick pay and continuing education reimbursement.

    The Whitewater River Consolidated Fire District located in Whitewater, Kansas is looking to fill the position of Fire Chief. The successful candidate must be an experienced firefighter and able to manage and grow a volunteer fire department. The selected candidate will oversee less than twenty current volunteers and be charged with the daily operation and readiness of eight apparatus in two locations within our 126 square-mile district. We are a fire service and medical/ trauma first response department. The certifications of Firefighter I & II and EMT are required and response to alarms is expected. Candidates must have successfully held a position of ranking officer with a fire service for at least three years. Experience with a volunteer department is preferred. Residence within our fire district is expected.

    Under general direction of the Building Inspector, performs annual inspections of buildings, other structures, flammable liquid storage and installation, places of public assembly, educational buildings, childcare facilities, and any other uses deemed in need of inspection.

    This position requires a high school diploma or GED. Previous experience as a firefighter is preferred but not required. Good working knowledge of the International Fire Code.

    The City of Neodesha has an open firefighter position in the Neodesha Fire/EMS Department.  This position is responsible for responding to alarms, emergency medical response, fire suppression, and rescue calls.

    Candidates for this position will be asses on their previous education, certifications, skills and abilities.  Starting pay depends on education.

    The City of Garden City has an open Firefighter position in the Garden City Fire Department. This position is responsible for responding to alarms, driving, and operating firefighting apparatus, performing fire suppression duties, and participating in fire prevention programs. 

    Candidates for the position will be assessed on their previous education, certifications, skills and abilities and will be placed in either Firefighter I or Firefighter II. See qualifications section below that details requirement for each position that will be considered for placement.

    All candidates that are considered for the final interview will be required to take part in the Garden City Fire Department Peek Agility Test.

    This is a 12-month full-time position with a salary range that will increase on July 1 and a great benefits package. If there is someone who is interested that does not have their I/C we are willing to work with them and pay for the course that is offered this fall at Barton County.

    The City of Great Bend has full-time FF/EMS openings. If you have been searching for a rewarding, hands-on career, now is the time to apply! This position responds to emergency situations including fires, persons trapped, hazardous conditions, and medical emergencies. This position will also inspect equipment daily, conduct safety training for the community, inspects fire hydrants, and completes all necessary training.

    After completion of the training period, this position will work 24-hour shifts. Weekend and holiday work is required. Firefighters are expected to respond to major emergency calls when off duty.

    Aptitude, physical agility and background investigations will be conducted and, after the interview process for qualified candidates, job offers will be contingent on pre-employment physical ability testing and drug screening.

    The requirements of the position are as follows: Valid Kansas driver's license, high school diploma or GED is required and as well as training as an EMT, Paramedic and/or Fire Science. The ideal candidate will have the ability to read and interpret written instructions and have strong communication skills.

    This position requires Firefighter I and EMT certifications. The City of Great Bend offers competitive pay and an excellent package of employee benefits.
