The City of Iola, KS (pop. 5,400) is seeking a qualified Fire Chief to lead the Iola Fire/EMS Department. The Fire Chief works under the supervision of the City Administrator and is responsible for the management of all Fire/EMS personnel, the Iola fire station, and EMS stations. The Fire Chief will establish and maintain policies and procedures, provide direction, delegate duties and responsibilities, and ensure selected staff manage their assignments effectively. This position is responsible for ensuring an engaging and coordinated environment and must take an active role to coach and counsel subordinate employees as necessary. The Fire/EMS Department’s budget is developed, implemented, and monitored by the Fire Chief. Applicants must be 21 years old and have a valid Class B Kansas Driver’s License. Minimum qualifications include seven years of experience in Fire and EMS, extensive experience as a fire officer, and training at a state or national fire training school.
