    On October 6, 2021 (Wednesday) from 1:00pm-3:00pm (CST), DHS CISA will be hosting a “free” two hour Active Shooter webinar.  This free training and registration has always filled up very fast in the past and has a maximum registration capacity of 300.   This webinar is an “advanced” Active Shooter training and intended for Leadership (e.g., CEOs, administrators, managers, division/department heads, HRO, etc.) and those responsible for Safety/Security/Emergency preparedness programs.

    Course detail: Fire Service Safety Culture: Who Protects Firefighters From Firefighters? F0349

    Dates: October 18-10, 2021

    Location: Shawnee Heights Dire Dist. Admin (Tecumseh, KS)

    This two-day course is designed to assist emergency services personnel in defining and advocating organizational change within the fire service relating to safety. Topics include safety and risk cultures within organizations; influences on safety culture and risk categories; concepts, goals, and processes of risk management. The course incorporates facilitated student-centered methodologies including lecture, small and large group activities, and individual assessments.

    Course Announcement: Youth Firesetter Intervention Specialist FO633 

    (National Fire Academy Direct Delivery)

    This two-day course is based on requirements of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 1035, Standard on Fire and Life Safety Educator, Public Information Officer, Youth Firesetter Intervention Specialist and Youth Firesetter Program Manager Professional Qualifications. This course provides students with a broad understanding of the knowledge, skills and abilities that the Youth Firesetter Intervention Specialist should have as requirements of NFPA Standard 1035 pertaining to youth firesetting. This course is for the practitioner who provides services at the program delivery level. It replaces Youth Fire Setting Prevention and Intervention - Level 1.

    This course covers the following:

    • Review of NFPA 1035 for Youth Firesetter Intervention Specialist.
    • The extent of the youth fire setting problem and justification for local youth fire setting prevention and intervention programs.
    • Examination of the typologies of firesetting and the motivation behind fire setting behaviors.
    • Identification, intake, screening, disposition and follow-up.
    • Youth fire setting educational interventions

    This course is being hosted by the Overland Park Fire Department on November 8-9, 2021 (Monday and Tuesday).

Your department chooses the classes that work best for your area. Did I mention that classes are FREE?
